Books and Projects

My name is Dmitri Popov, and this is my place on the web. I’m a freelance writer, amateur photographer, and a tea drinker.

I write about Linux and open source software for a living. Currently, I contribute to Linux Magazine, Raspberry Pi Geek, and c’t Digital Photography. My articles have appeared in Danish, British, US, German, Spanish, and Russian magazines and websites. I also maintain the Productivity Sauce blog, where I cover open source productivity software.

I write about open source photography tools on my Scribbles and Snaps blog, and I’ve published the digiKam Recipes and Practical ExifTool ebooks.

A hand-picked selection of my photos is available on my Mejiro-powered gallery. All photos there are released under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 Unported License. In my spare time, I tinker with Mejiro, a forgetful photo web app. I also maintain the Shoot Film In wiki.

I’m not much of a coder, but I’ve cobbled together a handful of tools and scripts for my personal use. The fruits of my coding endeavors are available on GitHub.
